Our international client in the foods and beverage industry is seeking a Controller to provide financial control and accounting expertise for all Compensation & Benefit plans. This role ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, accounting and audit standards and also ensures internal records and external disclosures pertaining to Compensation & Benefit programs are accurate, compliant and timely. Our Compensation and Total Rewards Controller works closely with Financial Reporting, Accounting, Treasury, Internal Audit and Legal. Major Tasks, Key Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:
· Financial control and reporting
o Establish, monitor and enhance financial controls for compensation and benefits programs
o Coordinate with Financial Reporting and Legal on regulatory filings and disclosures (quarterly representation letters, 11-K's, audited financial statements, 5500's, proxy statement, annual reports, S-8's)
· Audit planning and coordination
o Plan and coordinate the annual calendar of Benefit program audits (401k, Pension, Long Term Disability)
o Function as point person for regulatory and compliance audits with IRS and DOL
o Prepare financial statements, reconcile trustee/recordkeeping reports
o Manage relationship with data flow to 5500 preparers
o Coordinate audit status and close meetings
o Provide guidance to Benefit managers in preparation of audit responses and action plans
o Ensure action plans are implemented timely and effectively
o Coordinate Audit Committee communication
· Budget planning, oversight and reporting
o Manage G&A budget for Compensation & Benefits teams
o Work with Planning team on Strategic Plan and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) assumptions for all Compensation & Benefit related items (Field and HQ budgets)
o Monitor vendor payments against budgets
o Continuously improve process year over year
· Ensure all compensation & benefit plans comply with IRS, DOL, SEC, SOX, 409A and other legal requirements and all filings are completed on time and accurately
· Provide subject matter expertise and support on all accounting related items for broad HR team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting (MBA preferred)
- Minimum of five years of accounting or audit experience with large public company or accounting firm in a Management capacity
- Compensation/Benefit Audit and/or financial statement preparation experience
- Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills and communication skills
- People leadership experience
