Western Missouri

THIS IS A RETAINED SEARCH AND AN IMMEDIATE POSITION

Our Client believes that now is the time to strengthen their on-the-ground Sales Team in order to take market share from other competitors who are pulling in their horns and hunkering down in the present economy. They are strong, profitable and expanding at a time when others are laying off. This position offers a terrific long-term opportunity to leverage your selling skills and your business development capabilities in order to grow, manage and reap the rewards of the Territory.

CLIENT PROFILE
Our long-term client is a well-established, privately held, large Regional Manufacturers' Rep and Stocking Distributor of Process Control Equipment and Instrumentation serving such markets as Pharmaceutical, Primary Metals, Pulp & Paper, Food & Beverage, Power Generation, Chemical & Petrochemical, Veterinary Medicine and Wet Milling Industries among others. Not only do they sell products and service, but they can help close a sale with custom designed engineered systems. They are economically strong with a track record of growth averaging approximately13% per year SINCE 1979. Recently they have doubled their warehousing capacity, added a separate Marketing Dept and have constructed a new in-house Analytical and Measurement Lab.

JOB SUMMARY
With a Sales Territory that in essence covers the Western third of Missouri you will have responsibility for New Business Development as well as further penetrating/developing existing accounts. This is not a virgin territory and you will inherit a standing level of business. The realistic sales potential is estimated at approximately $3 million.

You will be in essence running your Territory like your own business but without headaches of ownership. There are not quotas handed out or a lot of micro managing going on. Please understand that this is not a job for someone just looking to turn a crank and sit behind a desk somewhere. This is for someone looking to succeed, who is mature and competitive, who possess a good focused energy, who is self-motivated, organized, has good planning and execution skills. The reason that this is a Retained Search is that our client is looking for a top shelf potential person who wants to build a reputation that they can leverage during their career and enjoy the comforts of financial success. OVER 50% of the Salesmen in this position with this company are $100K+ plus earners. Six of the seven DMs have been promoted from this position.

QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW

This is a position that calls for 3 15 years of Industrial Technical Sales Experience focused on end-user sales versus supporting a distribution network. Consultive selling techniques are a good match. You need to possess solid New Business Development skills (hunter) but also calls for Consultive Selling skills (farmer) in order to further penetrate and develop the accounts. You do not need to be an engineer in order to be successful, but you do need to have solid mechanical acumen/aptitude.

We seek an individual who knows they want to be in Outside Technical Sales, who gets energized with process of the hunt and knows how to finish the sale and develop a customer. Youre sufficiently mature with enough success to know that you are good and are seeking an opportunity with a strong company, offering first rate products and an above average earnings potential.

>> We are looking for between 3 to 15 years of successful outside industrial technical sales experience selling product to end users. We will also consider you if you have a strong history of Inside Sales with industrial technical products and feel you are ready to make the transition to Outside Sales. Finally, we will also consider a strong factory technical type with the right personality and a strong desire to get into technical sales.
>> A four year technical degree is preferred with Mechanical Engineering being most desired. However we can consider a 2 year technical degree with good solid industrial sales experience. Without a degree you must be able to demonstrate a superior track record of sales success and all other factors would need to be an excellent match.
>> Must have a good mechanical aptitude. Understanding of fluids, flow or filtration is certainly a plus.
>> Must be self-motivated, competitive, thirsting for success, able to work independently, be organized and disciplined and willing to work.
>> YOU MUST LIVE EITHER WITHIN OR ADJACENT TO THE TERRITORY. NO RELOCATION.
