CENTRAL AREA SALES MANAGER

INDUSTRIAL BUSINESS UNIT

OUR CLIENT: Our client is one of world's leading designers, manufacturers and marketers of wired and wireless products related to signal transmission for data networking, industrial automation, enterprise, transportation, infrastructure, professional audio and video and other specialty electronic markets. They are soon to be a $2B company with 7,000 employees and manufacturing capabilities in North America, Asia and Europe. Their market presence is truly global with strong brands and financial strength.

THE POSITION: As the Area Sales Manager you will be part of the Industrial Solutions Division reporting to the VP of Sales. You'll be responsible for . . .

* The sales growth and profitability of the Area identified above (approximately $10M sales volume at this time).
* Managing small teams of Regional Sales Managers (Three for the Central US) and hold down a sales territory of your own.
* The selling of networking hardware, software and services to power utility and general industrial accounts (transportation and surveillance) in the territory, with a key emphasis on new business development.

Other responsibilities include . . .

* technical consultation on LAN and WAN networks and communication system applications for customers and channel partners through product demonstrations and visits.
* Assist Regional Sales Managers negotiate integrator/VAR contracts and discounts, coordinate and cooperate with e-sellers and address other industrial markets in the territory as well as interact with the technical support staff to maintain customer relationships.
* Area Sales Managers will be responsible for sales administration including forecast activity and market reports for your sales area
* Overseeing the product sales and marketing of services to existing customers through an Account Management Team of direct reports.
* Expanding the customer base through identifying and creating product demand, prospecting new customers and identifying business opportunities with end users, consultants, contractors and distributors of our products

* Key products are copper cabling products, fiber optics, connectivity and networking solution products with distinct focus on process and factory automation.
* Vertical markets for this position would focus on: Industrial Process Manufacturing, Discrete Manufacturing, Transportation, Utility (Power/Waste Water/Energy) and OEM markets.
* You need to live in the Region within commutable distance to a major airport and operate from a home office.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must Haves:

* a BACHELORS DEGREE or Associates Degree or Equivalent Experience if you work for a direct competitor
* 5+ years of recent outside industrial sales experience selling technical products related to the industrial connectivity field. This could include industrial cables or active industrial communication devices/systems
* 2+ years of sales and personnel management experience
* a get it done, no excuses personality but with a strong customer focus and underlying professional polish
* live within the described Area and in proximity to a major airport

Special Notice Credentials (pluses, not requirements):

* an ENGINEERING or TECHNICAL DEGREE
* experience with process controls and/or general industry automation sales
* experience with the identified industrial vertical markets
* reside in the St. Louis, MO area
