This is a 6 months contract opportunity at our customer site, a leading company in Salem, OR 97301.
Job Description:
Contractor shall work with the SDC Enterprise Systems Support Group to provide the following types of DBA III Services as requested by the Agency:
I. Assistance with Oracle 10g System DBA functions in the Solaris and AIX environments as needed.
The Services may include:
1) Execution of tasks under the direction of the SDC UNIX Team Leader
2) Strict adherence to change reporting and requesting processes as defined by SDC and
3) Assistance with the administrative activities as required for both new development and the day-to-day operation of the Oracle database environment.
This includes, at a minimum:
a. Participation in the maintenance and administration of the existing Oracle (Solaris and AIX) environment
b. Cooperation with the SDC UNIX team in migrating from an Oracle environment to an AIX environment
c. Design and implementation of solutions in response to specific agency support requests
d. Recommendations on implementing new features in Oracle (e.g. Oracle encryption) and
e. Knowledge transfer to SDC staff.
II. Migration assistance with the Oracle database environments from Solaris to AIX.
The Services may include:
1) Completing migration work which includes, at a minimum:
a. Communication with the customer according to all SDC planning, documentation and process guidelines
b. A detailed assessment of the customer's needs, system impact and migration work requirements
c. Design and implementation of a solution based on the above communication and detailed assessment requirements and
d. Written documentation of the work performed.
Required Skills:
Must have 8 or more years experience in all of the following areas:
1. Oracle 10g database and application server experience
2. AIX and Solaris operating systems experience
3. Excellent customer service and IT project associated communication skills and
4. The ability to manage multiple Oracle environments.
